Sound Quality - (Exellent)
Low freq - Exact bass where it needs to be. No boomy, no extra rumbleness, bass effect stops exact where source info given, bass not interfering with anywhere in mids. No need to go for bass edition this is enough and accurate.
Mids - Upper Mids (Instruments, female voice, instrument seperation) noticably clear and able to hear hall or background effect)
Lower Mids (Male voice warm and clear, bass guitars and bass heavy equipments are able to sound properly, no extra bass that effect other mids
High freq - Extreamly clear, gives live performance effect even while playing mp3 files. best instrument seperation, good sound stage, exact sparkle and brightness in sound where it needs to be, no ear fatigue even while more than 80% volume.
Personal Opinion (No need to drink alcohole to refresh mind and. just plug in these ones and forget stress)
Recommend to go for Live preset than flat preset in equilizer to get best results from this IEM. This truly unlocks the potential of this IEM.

KZ AM16 Balanced edition.
Initially I used DAC , smaller ear tip & equializers were on .
Trebles(triangle instrument & cymbal were irritating me & caused suppressed vocals, thin sound, lack of clarity, lack of bass.
Then i switched to medium size ear tip for better isolation, turned Equalizer, earphone adaptation & ear customisation off.
It changed whole sound : higher clarity, bass, instrument separation, reduced treble, louder vocals.
My genre is metal- rock & I mainly care about electric guitar leads & solos .This IEMS delivered great quality of sound for this genre.
Pros : instrument separation, clarity,average bass(no thump) suitable for clean guitar tones like classic guitar(acoustic guitar),piano etc
Cons : Thin, higher trebles (triangle instrument, cymbals),low volume(iam listening in 90%) silent vocalist,riff or drum is louder than lead guitar.Not suitable for Pop & EDM(definitely not for indian genres like Bollywood or Punjabi songs)
My verdict, We Indians have used 99% of time bass oriented earphone, so it's hard to switch to Balanced tuning.
If you want to listen any indian genre song you please go with hybrid set up with 1 dynamic driver & 3/4 Balance amatures or dual dynamic drivers .
because only balance amatures can't give you thump of bass & warmness ( Inherent issue of Balanced amatures lower bass,higher treble,lower volume,thin & bright sound profile )
Western countries reviewers like balanced tuning, but Indians find it thin & dull (boring). So go with bass oriented IEMS.
Make wise decision I know its hard to buy right IEM in first go
Sound is awesome but the thing i do not like is the discomfort of right iem because of its uneven texture hurt my right ear like a shock wave directly put in my year sometimes i also feel an electric shock in my right ear which using it for sound I'll give it 5/5 rating but for comfort i don't know i am the only who get faulty iem i would like to rate it 1/5 for comfort
I was once again impressed with KZ's creation the AM16. A well balanced IEM that will not let you down. As a bass enthusiast I'm content with the bass response as compared to other IEM's in this price point. When paired with the right DAC you will get a bang for your buck in bass response with the bass edition. One should consider this IEM if they still feel that only bulky headphones can give a solid bass response. Overall response is good where the bass doesn't overpower the mids and the highs. Kz have kept their simplistic packaging and minimal accessories where all you get is the 3.5 mm cable & 3 pairs of eartips
btw first time an iem convinced me to write a review.
These are the best KZ iems i've heard so far and that says alot cuz i've been using alot of KZ iems since past 3 years.
I went with the bass edition and tbh they doesn't really sound like ur typical "KZ Tuning" and is quite balanced to my ears (for some reason the "balanced" version felt quite sibilant and more KZ tuned than these).
The peaks are not too harsh and bass is not exactly boomy but rather TIGHT (it might not be "enjoyable" to some)
Personally i am loving this kind of bass!. its tight punchy and mids are also quite present in the mix (Bass doesn't bleeds onto any other frequency).
talking about the technicalities lemme say it once. BEST SOUNDSTAGE AND IMAGING so far!!!! they are open back so sound leak might be lil too much for some people but trust me they are the most technical iems at this price range. Much better than both castors and even vadar pro.
if you want an overall balanced, clean (but not a boomy kind of sub-bass) and highly technical and sensitive iem at around 5k i would suggest you to blindly go for these specially the bass variant.
(BTW They look stunning and built quality is also top notch)

I am an occasional listener — I use IEMs mainly during long bus journeys and weeks spent away from family. I am not an everyday audiophile but I do care about sound quality. I paired the AM16 Bass Enhanced with a FiiO BTR15 DAC/amp using a Headphone Zone Stairway balanced 4.4mm cable.
First Impressions:
Out of the box, the AM16 surprised me in the wrong way. The treble was sharp and piercing — vocals felt too forward and the overall music sounded thin. Coming from a KZ ZSN Pro X which had warm, organic bass, the AM16 felt clinical and harsh initially.
After EQ:
Everything changed once I used the FiiO Control app’s parametric EQ. Boosting the sub-bass, adding warmth in the lower mids and pulling back the treble transformed the AM16 completely. It became musical, warm and genuinely enjoyable. Bass became punchy and satisfying. Melodies came through clearly. This is not an IEM you should judge straight out of the box.
Bass:
The bass is tight, fast and precise. It hits well and goes deep enough for bass-heavy Tamil songs. It is not the warm organic bass of a dynamic driver — it is more controlled and precise — but satisfying once EQ tuned.
Mids and Melody:
After EQ, melodic tracks sounded good with decent instrument separation. Not exceptional but very enjoyable for casual listening.
Build Quality:
All metal shell feels solid and premium in hand. However the weight becomes noticeable during extended listening sessions. After a few hours of use I experienced mild ear pain due to the heavier metal shell pressing against my ear canal. For short listening sessions this is fine — but for long bus journeys exceeding 2-3 hours it becomes uncomfortable.
Fit and Security:
The smooth metal shell combined with its weight causes the IEM to feel slightly insecure in the ear during movement. On bumpy bus rides I constantly felt the need to readjust or feared it slipping out. This is a genuine concern for active travel use. Upgrading to foam ear tips like Comply should help significantly with both the comfort and security issues.
Pairing with BTR15:
The BTR15 is a perfect partner — giving it clean power through the 4.4mm balanced output and excellent EQ control through the FiiO app. Without a good source and EQ, the AM16 may disappoint. With proper pairing it truly shines.

Perfect for occasional listeners who are willing to spend time with EQ and use shorter listening sessions. If you want plug-and-play warmth straight out of box — look elsewhere. If you enjoy tuning your sound — the AM16 rewards patience.

These tuning earbuds REALLY require tuning before they start to sound fun (but damn does it feel like eating raw sugar after you've tuned them to perfection). The earbuds have grooves? why? KZ kinda missed the mark on the sizing of these earbuds; the moderately sized ones are too big for my ears, and the small ones don't stick. The mic tends to cut off while I'm talking, could've been better. The monitors look slick, though.
