The Moondrop Chu II is a remarkable budget-friendly in-ear monitor, enhancing the beloved original Chu by delivering improved bass response and smoother treble. Will these IEMs sound better than stock earphones?
Do these really sound better than wireless earbuds?
Keep in mind, wireless earphones, pack in batteries, Bluetooth receivers, electronic components and speakers that add to their cost and can end up at several times the price of an equivalent sounding wired earphone. And so, for the same budget, wireless earbuds can sound pretty ordinary compared to wired IEMs. If sound quality is a priority over convenience, wired IEMs come out ahead in terms of price, and significantly in terms of sonic performance. Wired IEMs have always been the audiophile’s top pick.

Alternatively, the best-sounding option is to go for a USB Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) to connect your IEMs. A good DAC makes a considerable difference to the overall sound of your set up and these DACs are highly capable and outperform inexpensive adapters. If you are looking for the best presentation of your music then a dedicated USB DAC is the way to go.

Not entirely confident in my review-writing skills, but I'll give it a shot.
I've bought several budget IEMs (Blon BL03, CCA C10, KZ ZSN Pro, KZ EDX PRO, Soundmagic E11C, QKZ x HBB), yet this one stands out from the rest. I had considered getting the Moondrop Chu, but its unchangeable cable made me uncertain. However, I was scrolling through the website and saw the Moondrop Chu II is coming soon, I immediately decided to wait and get it. I've compared it with all the IEMs I currently own, and it's the best. I used it continuously for 6 hours and still didn't feel any fatigue. The fit is excellent, and the best part is the metal housing. I also own the DUNU TITAN S, and the CHU II sounds very similar to it.
Pros - Good thumping bass (not muddy).
Amazing clarity; the treble is also good (not harsh like the KZs).
Cons - No microphone, no spring tips, and the cable quality might be problematic for some, but it's acceptable for me.

As someone who’ve used and own Blon BL03, CCN CRA, KZ ZSN Pro x and the OG Moondrop Chu, the new CHU II is easily one of my favorite. The sound is super crisp and technical, soundstage is also decent and I could identify and place instruments clearly. It’s everything that I liked on the Chu but with a bit more bass. Yes there’s more bass and performance is good, my only wish is only if it was tighter. As on some songs I feel that the bass sometimes bleeds abit (but very slightly). Also on the highs and timbre, it is not as sharp as on the CHU, it is smoother.
I would say CHU 2 is similar to CCA CRA in terms of soundstage, bass is close to Blon BL03 and technical as on the OG Chu. Personally for me, I feel it takes all the best bits from all of the IEMs that I’ve used. Absolutely worth the price.

The sharp treble of the og chu is tuned down and the bass is given a bit more emphasis. I'd imagine crinacle would give the same rating to the 2 as the 1.

at this price point, the CHU first gen was already a steal and CHU 2 just takes it a notch or two more. I listen to metal and doom and I felt I can spend hours listening to heavy beats and searing vocals comfortably. There is a subtle difference between the first gen and this one in the treble region as some of the lead/solos in few thrash metal albums felt a bit elated, but it may be subjective. Overall, this is the best IEM at this price range. PERIOD. The detachable cable is a welcome addition and shows Moondrop is listening to customer !.

Very impressed by these. There's remarkable clarity and detail along with great bass, especially sub-bass, there just seems to be a slight held back feel in the mids at times. I've had some experience with the Truthhear Hola and the Tagzu Wan'er in this category, and I'd say the Chu 2's are clearly livelier than the Hola. These are indeed very similar to the Wan'er except in the absolute upper end, where the Wan'ers are somewhat sweeter and less aggressive, hence some very forward, bright or less resolved recordings can get a bit fatiguing on the Chu 2's, whereas they remain more listenable on the Wan'ers. Overall, the Chu 2's sound really good across different types of music, and are a steal at this price.
