I got these for casual listening after reading reviews online. At 3999 it is excellent value for money. I love the retro look, foldable portability, lightweight yet sturdy build quality. These are easily driven and can be plugged in into the 3.5mm headphone jack of your laptop, phone or mp3 player. I used it even with a 20 year old iPod Nano.
Coming to the sound, as expected it is a fun sounding headphone. Not harsh at all. Smooth. The sound profile is V shaped yet the vocals and mids sound clear and full. Do not expect refinement. Also, this won't be good for modern EDM. If you are into soft rock, oldies, lounge, some types of vocal trance, acoustic, classic rock, folk rock... these will do justice to them. At 3999 they are a no-brainer and I can see why it is the no. 1 bestselling headphone. Go for it.
It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because the original Porta Pros were made in USA. These are now made in China and so I would expect a lower price esp. considering that they come with just 1 year warranty. the earpads are basic and I will probably upgrade to Yaxi pads after a while.
I simply bought these... for fun. If you can afford a better headphone for serious listening at home, and don't need portability, skip this one and save the money.

Good sound quality for the price. I thought it would be warm and easy to listen to, but although it is warm the amount of treble is at par with my Sennheiser HD650. This makes it not so easy to listen to for me. While it has the treble of the HD650, it does not have that much mid range which makes the treble stand out and cause listening fatigue.
Soundstage is a bit narrow for an openback but ok for the price.
I was looking to replace my 14 yr old Sennheiser PX 90 with this but will have to continue the search.
Also note that the headband needs to be adjusted every time you need to wear the headphone - this is by design.
Overall it is still a suberb headphone for the price and very good for people wanting crisp sound with good mid bass.
I bought the Koss Porta Pro Headset as a replacement/substitute for my old Sennheiser PX 80 (which I still own). My main reason was to have something decent for music and also a mic that could handle meeting calls with minimal background noise.
At first, I was disappointed. When connected to my phone jack, the mic picked up noise from other rooms, and the sound quality felt a bit off. However, things improved when I tested it on my laptop—the mic performed much better, capturing only about 4–5% of background noise, though the sound still wasn’t perfect.
Initially, I even considered returning the headset, but since there was no actual defect, I decided to keep testing. That’s when I learned about headphone burn-in. After around 20 hours of use (spread over 5 days), the sound opened up and improved noticeably. The Porta Pro has a distinct sound signature with a nice balance of bass and treble. Compared to the PX 80, the sound isn’t drastically different—though the Sennheiser feels warmer. The big plus with Koss, of course, is the mic. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid all-rounder. That said, a price point of ₹4,000–4,500 would feel more justified than the current ₹6,000.
Now, onto the not-so-great part: comfort and build. The fit is disappointing for someone like me with a larger head. The “firm/light” setting feels ambiguous, and the manual or website doesn’t clearly explain how it works. The ear cushions are small and thin, pressing on the ears during longer sessions (anything over an hour is uncomfortable). The size adjustment also doesn’t lock well and often slips, so it needs to be reset every time.
For ₹6,000, I expected at least one pair of oversized cushions and maybe a clip for better stability—but none of that was included. The carry pouch that comes with the headset is too small, doesn’t close properly, and is practically useless. I ended up buying a separate case just to store and carry them.
For now, I plan to use these only for work-from-home and not for travel. I really hope Headphone Zone offers oversized cushions at a reasonable discount. I’ll continue using them and share an updated review after six months.

First of all , I really liked the way it was packed as most delivery services are quite rough with things. This is the first time I received something with no dents on it . Not to mention, how quickly it arrived . The headphones work pretty well and it was even better than what i expected it to be . I’ll definitely buy some more audio gears in the future from this site.

I wanted a pair of light-weight/comfortable phones with decent audio quality for my Fiio DM13 CD player since the only other pair of can's I have are large & bulky Audio Technica studio headphones that i use for mixing music and those sound a bit clinical for regular/easy listening. On the other hand these are perfect for that. I hardly even notice they're on...so comfortable. The sound is clear crisp & full without being annoyingly analytical. Bass, mids and treble are all pretty well balanced without any of them being exaggerated. There's a slight pleasant/musical "rounding" of sharp edges in the mids so, while everything still sounds clear & well-defined, nothing sounds harsh. Overall a very nice sounding pair of headphones, especially for the price. The build is decent, not flimsy. It reached me quickly & safely in about two-three days as all my orders from HZ do. So what's one to complain about?? :p

The product is very comfortable. Very fast delivery. I used to feel ear pain and headache when I use wireless. But porta pro is very comfortable. Specially for office calls.the Mike is big and flexible. One of the best i have bought. It would be very nice if remote option for volume control is provided

The Koss Porta Pro is a veritable legend in the head-fi realm; I've not come across such unanimous adoration for any other headphone or IEM, probably with the exception of HD600/650/6XX. And the Porta Pro does live up to its reputation. Unbeatable sound at this price. Balanced, crisp & clear and thoroughly engaging. The slender build, light but not flimsy, adds to the comfort. Absolutely no complaints.

The Porta Pro is an insane headphone for its value, I do not think that there is anything that can beat this piece in this price range. One of the few reasons for this is because the soundstage and timbre clarity is way too good for the price. If you were to compare this to the Hifiman Sundara and give it the same power of your amp; which in my case was the Topping A50s, you can clearly see that the Sundara beats this without any shadow of doubt. However, the Porta Pro is significantly cheaper than the Sundara, requires less power to run and is definitely one of the best entry points for a beginner audiophile. I think that this is the headphone to get if one wants to take the quest of looking for a great listening experience. While the timbre quality might seem lacking at times, it has a strong bass response and it might get into your head sometimes. The build quality is decent, but it does hurt a bit and seems invasive after a while, however, that's what you're going to get with almost any other kind of headphone. In all, I think this is a fabulous purchase, and if you want someone to get a taste of good audio without spending too much? This should be the go-to-headphone, along with the Koss KSC75.
Pros: Comfortable, open and clear sound, enjoyable.
Cons: little bit base heavy ( Sound is subjective, thisis my personal experience )

First impressions I got from this headphones are as follows:
1.they feel fragile and cheap.
2.they have a very different
design philosophy which
makes them standout in
crowd.
3.they have a very 'balanced'
sound signature.
4.they have a very comfy pair of
cushions/foams.
5.they have a fitting system
which requires some getting
use to.
When I saw them first time online, I was intrigued by their design. Classic 1984 built, it's nothing like the others. Here's a thing. They're slightly fragile and tiny. They're not for everyone. They're not strong and tough and they do give a cheap feel but I embrace it fully given I love vintage stuff. Once you put them on, they're amazingly soft and you would forget that they're on top of your head. Plus they're really small so you get that nice portability factor to it. These are strictly not for the bass lovers out there. It has a very balanced and warm sound. They're not very clear either, you can't expect to hear every slightest detail but again, they're balanced. The very essence of a balance is that you cannot be inclined towards one thing. For casual listening, they're absolutely exceptional. They can be folded even further so that just contributes to its portability. Highly recommended if you need them for casual listening and don't mind the vintage design.
Its such a great headphone, I can compare this with any 20k one. Another thing to mention is that this design was created almost 35 to 40 years back. Sound quality a+, comfort a+, pricing a+ and it seems durable.
We are genuinely so happy that these lived up to everything you hoped for.
