Over the years, Moondrop has earned a lot of respect in the audiophile community and has multiple successful IEMs available across different price segments, starting from as low as 13$ with its entry-level model and going as high as 1100$ for its flagship pair. Moondrop has now announced their new IEM called the Chu. Moondrop Chu is a single dynamic driver entry-level IEM with a composite cavity 10mm dynamic driver unit. The pair packs a powerful performance with clarity and details with its titanium-plated diaphragm. Moondrop has adjusted the cavity structure to tune the set following their famous VDSF tuning curve!! Chu delivers high-resolution performance with its excellent sound reproduction.
FEATURES 10MM COMPOSITE CAVITY DYNAMIC STRUCTURE FOR CLEAN AUDIO
The latest Moondrop Chu is an entry-level single-dynamic driver IEM that comes embedded with a unique 10mm nano-crystal coated driver. This 10mm driver features a titanium-coated diaphragm, which delivers lush and detailed audio reproduction. This internal audio architecture is adopted from Moondrop Aria’s decentralised dynamic structure. This high-performance 10mm composite cavity works in conjunction with a high-frequency phased waveguide leveraged N52 Neodymium magnet internal magnetic circuit and 0.035m ultra-thin imported CCAW sound coil to obtain high energy conversion efficiency and deliver outstanding performance with full dynamic range and rich details.
METICULOUSLY TUNNED WITH THE MOONDROP VDSF TARGET RESPONSE
The Moondrop Chu takes on the VDSF tuning inspired by the Harman curve on a capable 10mm Titanium-coated dynamic driver. The Moondrop VDSF target response is a parametric target and with this, sound quality is controlled by composite elements to restore the audio quality to mastering levels. This method creates an open soundstage with the characteristics of a diffusion-tuned space. The VDSF technique matches the frequency response accurately to the VDSF target response. Through volume and dimension calculation, FEA finite element simulation and 3D printing experiment verification, an acoustic coupling cavity has been created to achieve the Chu's frequency response.
ERGONOMICALLY DESIGNED AND COMES BUNDLED WITH SPRING TIPS
The housings of the Moondrop Chu feature a new design made from an injection moulded alloy with a compact shape. They sport a similar finish to the Aria that many users have come to love. The metal outer cavity is manufactured from alloy materials using melting and injection moulding technology, thus creating a stable, precise and aesthetically pleasing shell that is durable and functional. Moondrop Chu comes standard with the popular Spring Tips Eartips. Spring tips suppress undesirable resonance through a diffusion structure, significantly reducing high-frequency linear distortion caused by nozzle resonance and optimising natural high-frequency timbre. At the same time, the carefully selected material of the spring tips cap can better fit the ear canal without stickiness, and the radial double support structure can prevent bass loss.

Apun ne jab ye product ka naam dekha, laga ye chinese log apun ko gali de rahe hai. Fir bhi maine Kharida kyunki ek guruji ne recomend kiya, pehle toh ye gurujis na bohut ache hai, ye IEMs na Ekdum kadak hai. Details lajawab hai. Soundstage lagta hai apun stage ke samne hai aur volume bhi acha hai deusre IEMs jaisa nahi ke phone pe full volume karna padta hai, 40 - 50% bohut loud ho jata hai. Eartips bohut ache hai aur koi bhi size use karo ears ke bahar niklenge hi nahi. Headphonezone ye eartips seperatly bhi becho kyunki ye Lajawab hai eartips.
Coming from the perspective of a person who has listened to more than 100 IEM's. These are one of the most neutral-sounding ones for the price they are available at. The only small flaw in the tuning is that these have a little hash metallic timbre which results in these sounding shrill and fatiguing after like 2-3 hours of listening. Towards the 8kz range, there is a little spike that can be toned down a little bit by using foam ear tips. Detail resolving is one of the strengths of the product and I would give it an A+ for that (only for the price otherwise it is a respectable B if seen in a vacuum). Lastly coming to sound staging, it is fine just like 80% of the IEMs I have tested and listened to.
The biggest problem that was faced by me with this product is the mic. I have tried 4 different sources and have absolutely different results from them:
1. With a redmi note 10 phone, volume buttons become next track and previous track buttons.
2. With a POCO X3, as soon as it connects it blocks the mic for calls and recording and the buttons don't respond to any presses.
3. on a oneplus device everything works
4. And lastly on a Samsung phone the mic and play-pause button work but the volume buttons do not work
This was my first moondrop purchase(Shenzhen audio) not headphonezone. I can say it was a waste of money atleast for me. I use my blon bl 03 with and without apple dac and the volume is surprisingly loud even at 50%. But this is not the case with the chu. Even at 70% its not that loud and above 70 treble starts piercing your ears. So its only good at home. Maybe its the problem with my unit. There's no thumping bass even with eq. Don't buy if you listen to EDM and POP.
Not happy with the output. Sound signature is too muffled-up. It's not like the previous IEMs / Earphones I have purchased. Initially I thought it was me who found it so, but, my sons also said so...

Writing this review after listening it for 3 days straight and not straight out of box so as to take in all the details.
Coming from Kz ZS10pro, i always used to feel that zs10pro is very detailed but really harsh. Can even give you headache with spike.
I knew that chu had a less harsh sound profile because of its tuning and it was so.
It is adequately detailed and good soundstage for its price. (Even better than double the price iems)
The tonalty is great and tbh, thats where it separates itself from the rest. If you’re thinking whether to buy it or not? Then just buy it. Best 2k spent.
