Experience the power, performance, low noise and versatility that brings out the best in any headphone with the Schiit Magni 3+/ Magni Heresy. From sensitive IEMs to power-hungry headphones, these Schiit amps can handle them all. With 2400mW into 32Ω, switchable gain & an exceptionally low noise floor, you get a high-performance amp.
Schiit gives you a choice between a very powerful amp and an extremely powerful amp. The Magni 3+ is an affordable mini speaker amp with a Vbe multiplier and driver stage. It's the ultimate all-discrete current-feedback headphone amp. The Magni Heresy is an all-op-amp based headphone amp. It includes a multiple paralleled output stage with feedforward that offers some really awesome measurements.
Both amps have been designed and built in the United States. The Magni 3+ features the traditional silver and grey chassis while the Magni Heresy sports a fancy black and red chassis. They include preamp outputs, letting you connect to desktop powered monitors as well as speaker power amps. Thanks to built-in instant shut-down and time-delayed start-up, say goodbye to glitches or pops.

Schiit - Magni Heresy
|
Because some people really like our historic approach to Magni, and some people want even better measurements. So we decided to give you both: a Magni 3+ that is the ultimate expression of our discrete, current-feedback topology (basically a small speaker amp) and a Magni Heresy that is 100% integrated—all op-amps, all the time..
Because you like silver and gray, which is the finish of Magni 3+, or black and red, which are Magni Heresy's colors.
I think we covered this in the product description, but here goes again, with more detail
Ah hell no, we aren’t falling for that. You tell us.
We think both amps sound very, very good, or else we wouldn’t offer both of them. We developed the Magni Heresy largely to see what could be accomplished with a simple topology and modern op-amps, but we’re very pleased with the way it came out. At the same time, we think Magni 3+ provides compelling reasons that you shouldn’t choose everything simply based on numbers. But seriously, you tell us.
When we started developing an all-op-amp Magni, it was 100% counter to everything we’ve done. We’ve always done fully discrete designs, when we weren’t so cost-constrained that they weren’t practical. Going op-amp was far, far easier, and more typical in today’s world, but it was, well, almost anathema. So to us, an op-amp Magni was heresy. But we’re happy with the way it turned out!
That’s a great question, isn’t it? Why would we bother with a much more complex, harder to produce product that takes a lot more engineering time and skill (the Magni 3+)? Well, we believe that the numbers don’t tell the entire story. We believe that Magni 3+ has a place. But when it comes down to it, it’s your call.
Why is it a 6S or 8 but not 9 or 10S but 11? Nah, sorry, just teasing you, Apple fans. There’s a method to our madness. For us, a product gets a “+” when it has the same functionality, but has been changed significantly internally. Like Freya+ and Saga+. A product gets a number bump if the functionality changes.
Both of them will run IEMs with zero audible noise, though Magni Heresy is slightly quieter on the analyzer.
Both of them have tons of power—specifically 2.4W RMS per channel at less than 1% THD, though both typically perform comfortably above that.
Simple: we keep tweaking for higher efficiency. Last time it was a topology change. This time it’s a driver stage and optimized emitter resistance. It is about the maximum of what we can do now, though, without giant changes.
Either Magni has no capacitors in the signal path at all—that’s what we mean by DC coupling. This eliminates any sonic effect a capacitor in the signal path might have on your system.
No. Both Magnis have relay mute for delayed startup and fast shut-down. You can leave your headphones plugged in all the time. It also automatically disconnects the preamp outputs when you plug headphones in. Amazing things, switches.
Seriously, you really don’t need to. But, you know, different people like different things, and they may want to try out tube amps, or balanced amps, or Class A/Continuity™ amps, or you might have Raal/Requisite headphones, and then you actually need a different amp, the Jotunheim R, the only direct drive ribbon headphone amp.
We did. They’re just in a different chassis and costs another $99-249. They’re called “Modi 3” or “Modi Multibit.”
Unless you know what you’re doing, we don’t recommend that. Magni uses an AC wall wart. Most are DC. DC won’t work with either Magni. Plus, seriously? This is a $99 amp. You want to use some $599 power supply with it? Nah.
In Norse mythology, Magni was one of Thor’s sons.
Don't sweat it, this Schiit Magni comes with a 2 year warranty from Schiit that covers manufacturing defects. All products featured on Headphone Zone are backed by an original manufacturer's warranty.

"By that fact alone, I think my ears pick up more clarity through the Magni than they have with any portable amplifier I have ever heard."
Read MoreOpens up a lot of possibilities. Pair with different headphones - vary the gain - and enjoy. Fed the Magni 3+ from iFi Zen DAC (also bought from HPZ) - pre-outs to Denon PMA 520 AE. Then tested Grado SR 80E, Sennheiser HD 599 and Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro on three outputs - iFi Zen Dac, Magni 3+ and Denon. Findings - Zen DAC in third position but by no means a bad or average output - just not as good as the other two. Magni 3+ delivers best performance with the HD 599. Grado felt a little too much on the bright side; and I'm a guy who leans towards bright so me complaining about being bit too bright - you get the idea. DT 990 Pro sounder almost similar on both Magni 3+ and Denon outputs. Plan to get some planars to test out. Vary the gain per song to suit your taste - that way you can get the most out of the Magni
We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to leave us this note. We look forward to serving you again.
I bought the Magni3 from HPZ (good people they are!) to replace my 5 year old O2 which is still an excellent amp. But Magni3 is better than O2, I must say. Magni3 has much more power, SQ is a shade better. It looks good too. Being Class AB (which is good), it generates a little heat. At 12 to 1 o'clock position, Magni3 drives the LCD-2C extremely well. With HD650, maybe I can go upto 2 o'clock position. That's all I need, I don't want to damage my ears. I would readily and strongly recommend Magni3 as the last desktop solidstate amp you need to buy.
Good experience buying pre-owned magni 3 from Headphonezone. They helped with courier delivery problems and I got it ahead of schedule.
Unboxing: Package contained the pre-owned Magni-3 and plug, original invoice and manual. A tiny qualm, one of the pins on the plug was deformed, but it managed to connect with power socket.
Experience: Had an initial hiccup. Sound was very low than my expectation. Listening HD 598SE from Redmi Note 4 trough magni 3. Tried HI-gain. Poor volume even at 3 O'clock. My previous set up of RedmiNote 4 + Behringer HA400 amp had sounded louder. Then realised the volume on Redmi Note, set at 50%, was the culprit. Pushed it to 95%. Now Magni 3 came to life. Decent output at 10 O'clock. It was a refreshing change from the boomy bass and sennheiser veil. Bass tightened, less veil, spacious soundstage with more detail.
Tried DT770 32ohm. For me, DT770 is a hard hitting, very engaging can with DragonFly Black. RedmiNote 4 + Magni 3 totally changed the character of DT770 on its head. Most noticeable is the smooth treble. wider, taller soundstage. Low noise floor, more detail. thinner note presentation (than DF black). Bass is relaxed. Seems like I will shift from Rock/Metal to Melody/Carnatic music with DT770 + magni 3.
Realtek ALC892 onboard Z270M-D3H-CF Gigabyte motherboard on PC: has even lower noise floor, bigger soundstage and has an appealing darker signature when compared to Magni 3 + Redmi Note 4. Onboard sound is slowly improving. However Magni 3 sounds more musical and has more detail.
Wish Modi 3 or Modi multibit arrives soon in stock
Thank you, Headphonezone, keep up the good work!!
Hey Manu, we're so glad to know that you loved the product so much. Thank you so much for your amazing detailed review. Your appreciation means a lot to us. Customers like you who have been a part of our growth means a lot to us.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and helping us grow. We hope to have you in our family always.
Aside from magni 3 being a clean and powerful amp for your mid tier audiophile needs, buying it from headphone zone is also very convenient. This website is listed on schiit.com as distributor so you can be assured that you are getting a genuine product. 9999 ₹ is actually a pretty good price in india considering you are not paying for international shipping, custom duties and also wait time is significantly lower.
I'm a new found audiophile and moving into a new home gave me a chance to review my study . Headphone Zone gave a great recommendation on schitt magni as a starter amp. I will never regret that decision of buying. Such clear sounds with each instrument separated so clearly. An amazing product to start off as a beginner audiophile
It’s quite obvious there are tons of reviews about the Schiit Magni and mine is no exception. It produces perfect clarity output for the Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro - 80 ohm version and provides amazing details on the same headphones I’ve been owning for more than 3 years. Hands down get this.
Would restrict my review only to the buying experience for now as it’s been only few days since I bought the Schitt stack
The experience was smooth as the HPZ site provides all the information required for you to make the buying decision. The delivery was fast and did not require any follow ups. Would buy from them again

Does the Schiit - Magni 3+ comes with power adapter ? If yes, then is it of schit make ?
Yes, the Schitt Magni 3+ comes with a Power Adapter!
Hi, is this any good for driving my polk audio t50 tower speakers? I understand it's good for headphones, I am sure it will run my hifiman 400i well. But it will be nice if it can power my passive speakers as well
No, this cannot power your passive speakers, you'd need a POwer Amplifier
Hi, i have a schiit magni heresy product originally purchased in U.S.A. I am in need of an additional wall wart that works with indian 220v supply. please help me find out where I can get on in bengaluru, india. Thanks
You'd have to get in touch with Schiit Audio or look for a 110V to 220V converter.
will my senheiser hd4.50 btnc benefit from this kind of an amplifier?
The Schiit - Magni is ideal for wired headphones with higher impedance, your Sennheiser - HD4.50 BTNC does not require amplification as it can easily be driven with smartphones.
When will the amp be available again?
Currently, there is no specific timeline for the availability of Schiit - Magni 3. Were getting the Shiit - Magni 3+ and Magni Heresy in the next 2-3 weeks.
The story of Schiit Audio begins with two veteran audiophiles Jason Stoddard, formerly of Sumo, and Mike Moffat, formerly of Theta coming together to shake things up a bit. Both of them have extensive experience in developing lots of audio and A/V products including the Andromeda III, Cobalt 307, DS Pre and Angstrom 200. From power amplifiers, I/V conversion stages, D/A converters, relay-switched stepped attenuator volume controls in preamps to developing the first DTS home theatre surround processor on the market, Schiit Audio has developed a lot of audio products over the years.

Headphones are the need of the hour everyone who likes music uses a headphone. Therefore Schiit Audio moved to develop personal audio equipment while continuing to design a speaker-based system which includes the industry-leading preamps, amps and DACs. So right now Schiit Audio has a plethora of audio products ranging from personal audio to speaker-based systems. Schiit designs affordable audio products that bring happiness in your lives.
Unlike ordinary DACs that use delta-sigma, NOS (new old stock) D/A chips, multibit chips, high-cost R2R ladders, Schiit uses unique DSP-based closed-form digital filter which improves the sonic performance of the multibit DAC. Therefore the Schiit's multibit technology brings all of it together using the current-production, medical/military grade D/A converters.

Schiit has opted for an innovative approach for the analog side as well. Even the most affordable Schiit headphone amplifier is a miniature, fully discrete, DC coupled, current-feedback power amplifier. Schiit is credited for introducing Continuity output stage to solve the issue of transconductance droop which was common in Class AB amplifier design. Schiit has also developed balanced topologies like Nexus in Ragnarok 2 and a perfect combination of tube and solid-state with Coherence in Lyr 3.
All the Schiit products are designed for solidity and durability. Even the smallest of the products are made of aluminium and steel while the larger products are made of high-end C core transformers, power supply filtering and low-noise control. All the products have to go through severe testing procedures including the latest APx555 audio analyzer and Avermetrics analyzers. Every product from Asgard and up goes through burn-in to address the issues faced during the initial period of usage. Schiit takes care of all the service and support requirements so that you can concentrate on great sound.

Schiit believes that local control of all the aspects of production improves the delivering of the product. Therefore all the Schiit products are designed and made in the USA and most of the cost of the components are going to the US-based companies. Assembled in the USA means that Schiit's chassis guys are from San Fernando Valley, Schiit transformers are made in California, Schiit boards come from the east coast of the USA and all the designing, assembling and testing of Schiit products happen in Valencia, California.
