One glance at the ATH-PRO500MK2 and you will be quick to realise that the headphones have been packed with all the feature of a dj headphone.

Designed in a black design, these Over-ears are not the most attractive pair you will come across, moreover, they are not meant to look good. The Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2 is built from primarily from plastic, but is heavily durable. The Over-ears The black finished body is matte finished and particular sport an 'only-business' look.

Like most Audio-Technica headphones, the ATH-PRO500MK2 too comes with very subtle branding. The back of the earcups have been debossed with the brand's logo and model name, while the brand name has been printed on to the headband.

The Over-ears feature swivel earcups and a foldable band. The headphones fold up with much ease and can conveniently stowed into your bag. These headphones can endure pretty much anything you put them through.

The ATH-PRO500MK2 employs earcups that have a closed-back design. You will find that there isn't much of noise isolation too.
DJ-STYLE CLOSED-BACK DESIGN VS STUDIO MONITORING SEMI-OPEN DESIGN

The AKG K240 Studio sits in the line AKG's professional line of headphones. One look at these Over-ears and you will be quick to notice, their design reeks 'retro'. Hands down, they also look modern and sophisticated and the same time. The headphones are likely to make you feel nostalgic, Where the earcups flaunt a look of those large 80's era ear cans, you are likely to feel nostalgic.

Although built from heavy plastic, the earcups feel more thandurable. The Black and gold accents lend these a nice old-school charm. The headband is made from a leather strap that can be self-adjusted. The metal frame above the headband only adds to the durability of these Over-ears.

AKG has ensured that its branding is loud and clear. 'AKG' in gold is delicately printed on the headband, while, the logo is attached on the earcups.

These Semi-open designed Over-ears, give you the best of both worlds.

Audio-Technica's ATH-PRO500MK2 will have content in terms of usability. The headphones come with a tight band that perfectly sits on your cranium. However, you may find that your head feels a little trapped when the headphones are worn for long periods at a stretch.

Audio-Technica has generously padded the headphones. The earcups and headband has been covered in thick foam, while being covered in pleather. That being said, it does tend to get warm and you do experience discomfort, especially from the earcups.

Since the earcups have an over the ear design, it does a favourable job at isolating external unwanted noise. Not the best, but decent.

A great added advantage, apart from its standard detachable coiled cable, the headphones come packed with an additional straight cable. The coiled cable allows for great mobility when you are connected to an output device. Moreover, the cable is one-sided, a welcome feature in dj headphones.
AUDIO-TECHNICA'S 2-CABLE OPTION VS AKG'S BEST-IN CLASS COMFORT

The AKG K240 Studio headphones give you the best fit. The earpads simply cover your ears, without adding too much of pressure or clamping very hard. The self-adjusting leather headband gently sitsa top your head, without feeling too heavy.

The noise isolation is among the best at this price point.

Just like the Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2, the K240 Studio comes with a detachable one-sided cable. The plug-in configuration makescable adjustments and/or replacements easier down the road. It also cuts down on snarls, which can degrade signal quality and consequently sound quality over time.

The Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2 and the AKG K240 Studio comes with a 1/4 inch screw in adapter for larger headphone jacks.

SOUND: Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2 VS AKG K240 Studio

Evidently, the Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2 boasts of a sound signature that is in one word, 'bass heavy'! With its heavy club music audio, the brand aims to capture of the market of upcoming DJ professionals and music enthusiast alike.

The ATH-PRO500MK2, drives your audio with immense power and punch. It packs with it plenty of low-end. This being said, the high notes do sound off and muffled. But since it does not affect the kind of audio DJ's listen to, this is not something that really affects the output of these Over-ears. Loud Genres like Pop, Hip-hop and Bollywood sound great on these, you are bound to feel a music high with these headphones on. Vocals are clear and crisp, and sound favourably good.

When it comes to noise isolation, the headphones do well with loud sounds, but fails when it comes to ambient sound, such as that of an engine.
BASS BAISED AUDIO QUALITY VS BALANCED AUDIO RESPONSE

The AKG 240 Studio invariably gives you genuine space and air that makes for a more realistic audio experience. The On-ears lend the most neutral sound. We love how the audio sounds uncoloured and isn't biased towards a particular tone.

Moreover, these Over-ears strike the perfect balance between a conventional closed-back design and a high-end open-back design. The Semi-open back design ensures an airy audio experience, without suppressing the bass.

The bass is robust and forward and is delivered without being spiked or exaggerated. To put in more precisely, the lows are well articulated with a solid grip. The high frequencies are natural, with tremendous air. And above all, the mids go with perfect sync. It feels organic, with just enough weight. The sense of balance is astounding.

Effortlessly balanced, every texture, nuance and inflexion are brought to the forefront in ways fewheadphones can do.
